APCON Sustains Support for Budding Industry Professionals

Mrs Ijedi Iyoha, rpa Acting Registrar/CEO, APCON

The Advertising Practioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) has once again declared support for young aspiring advertising professionals through sponsorship of the 2020 Future Creative Leaders Academy.

The Future Creative Leaders Academy is a 3-day intensive training programme including seminars, workshops and screenings held during the Pitcher Festival of the Creativity Week.

It is scheduled to hold from 26 - 28 March 2020. The programme serves as an early immersion into the competitive world of advertising for the students. Before their arrival in Lagos, they will be required to work on some briefs. The first brief will be sent on 6 January 2020. The top 3 shortlisted winners (including at least 2 schools and both genders) will be forwarded to Cannes Lions for the International jury to select the final winner who will be invited to attend the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy in Cannes, France in June 2020. In the second half of the 2020, the winner will also be invited by Google to attend an all-expense-paid programme at Google Campus in Mountain View, California, USA.

A second campaign brief will be sent on 1 March 2020 to all students registered to participate in the Future Creative Leaders Academy. For the campaign brief, we expect that each student will be supervised by a lecturer. All the confirmed participants will be requested to arrive the academy residence on Wednesday, 25 March 2020.

At the end of the programme, all participating students will receive certificates. Best participating student selected based on project work and test administered by APCON will win an all-expense-paid trip to Dubai Lynx Festival. The first and second runners-up will get consolation prizes. The lecturer that supervised the winning student will get a cash prize of N100,000. The institution or department that produced the best students based on cumulative average will win the School of the Year award.

The same student will not be allowed to win both the Roger Hatchuel Student Academy and the Dubai Lynx Festival prizes. If the same person wins both, the Dubai Lynx Festival prize will go to the next highest scorer. However, the scores of the top winner will still be used to calculate the Lecturer of the Year and the School of the Year awards.
